What we collect and why
Forms and booking
When you submit a form on this site (contact, fit finder, webinar registration, or booking a call), we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, and the details you enter, such as your question or your fit-finder answers. We use this information to contact you about your inquiry and to schedule a call, via email and Cal.com, our scheduling provider.
Calculator entries
The equity calculator works on figures you enter, such as your home value, mortgage balance, and the cash amount you want to access. These figures stay in your browser and in the page's shareable link unless you choose to send them to us, for example by booking a call about a scenario. If you do send them, we keep them with your inquiry so JJ can prepare for the conversation.
Email addresses
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it to send you the content you requested and, if you subscribed to the newsletter, our briefing. Email addresses are stored with Resend, our email service provider.
Usage data
We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This collects anonymized page view and performance data. No personally identifiable information is included. Analytics are only initialized after you accept our cookie notice.
Audience preference
If you identify yourself as a homeowner or property owner using the site's self-ID feature, we store that preference in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you have accepted cookies. It is used only to personalize the content order on your visit.
Chatbot queries
When you use our AI assistant, your queries are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic does not retain data from API calls by default. We log anonymized queries where no good content match was found; these logs contain no personal information.
Not a credit application
Submitting a form on this site, booking a call, or using the calculator is not a credit application and involves no credit pull. Nothing you enter here affects your credit. Any actual application happens later, with your explicit consent, through the specific lender or provider involved.
Data processors
The following third-party services process data on our behalf:
- Resend: stores email subscriber lists and sends newsletter and transactional (form confirmation and follow-up) emails
- Cal.com: handles call scheduling when you book a time with JJ
- Notion: stores inquiry records so JJ can follow up on your request
- Anthropic: processes chatbot queries via the Claude API
- Vercel: hosts the site and provides anonymized analytics
How we handle nonpublic personal information
As a licensed mortgage broker, Homeport Equity handles nonpublic personal information consistent with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and its implementing regulations. We do not sell your personal information, and we share it with third parties only as needed to respond to your inquiry, provide the services described above, or as required by law.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you and request a copy of it
- Request that we delete your personal information
- Request that we correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@homeportequity.com or call (858) 707-5299. We will verify your request using the contact details you provided and respond within the timeframes the law requires. You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
Unsubscribing
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link; clicking it stops those emails immediately. You can also email hello@homeportequity.com or call (858) 707-5299 and ask to be removed, and we will take care of it.
Cookies
We use a single first-party cookie to remember your cookie consent preference. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. Vercel Analytics uses a privacy-preserving approach that does not require cookies.
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Policy updates
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
